Notes from Colleagues
“As a math teacher just a few doors down from her CTE classroom, I was always impressed and intrigued by the project‑based learning happening every week. My students often ask, ‘When will I ever use this?’ but in her classroom, students were eager to show me what they created and discovered — they experienced countless ‘aha moments.’
From pitching a new NFL franchise and rebranding discarded football helmets, to shopping at Goodwill on a budget and transforming their finds into upcycled fashion, to building a zoo budget and analyzing real accounting practices, to even designing a Macy’s window display — her students were constantly engaged and excited to learn.
Her project‑based learning environment fostered true engagement, problem‑solving, collaboration, and meaningful skill development.

““While helping the homecoming nominees fill out their questionnaires, they were asked to share their fondest high school memory. One student wrote, Fashion Merchandising Class with Mrs. Nicholas, and another said, The Fashion Trip to New York. She consistently creates meaningful, memorable experiences in and beyond the classroom.”

“Mrs. Nicholas’ projects capture student interest and give them opportunities to apply their learning to real‑world situations, encouraging creativity and collaboration. I always enjoyed watching students have fun and seeing how proud they were to showcase their finished products.”
